Help is on the way...
People need social connections to survive and thrive. For most people, connecting socially begins at work. However, for individuals who have autism, it is often difficult to obtain and maintain employment. In general, people on the autism spectrum face higher rates of unemployment and underemployment than any other group of individuals who have disabilities. This leads to increased isolation, depression, and self-harm.
Older adults are also at a higher risk for social isolation and loneliness due to changes in health and social connections associated with aging. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), loneliness and social isolation are associated with higher risks for health problems, including heart disease, depression, and cognitive decline.
Helping others gives people a sense of feeling connected, creates a sense of belonging, and reduces isolation. It increases empathy and compassion and creates a sense of purpose! All Things Considered, LLC aspires to create relationships between individuals who are at the greatest risk for social isolation, so no one feels alone!
